HOW TO ACTUALLY GET RID OF PUFFY EYES AND REDUCE DARK CIRCLES

Pop quiz: what do a quarterback and a stressed out bride-to-be have in common? Well, if you’re like most people, the answer is dark marks under the eyes (and if you’re not, pop some champagne to celebrate your luck and skip ahead to the next section). It can happen to anyone- you start off all bright eyed and bushy-tailed, but the combination of stressed out days and not so restful sleep gives your pretty face the illusion of a perpetual black eye.

Now, here comes the bad news (as if suggesting you look like you went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson wasn’t bad enough): there is no magic fix for puffy, dark eyes. The only things that will give you real, honest results are enough sleep and tons of water. Even the best eye cream in the world can’t counteract the root of the problem, which is a combination of stress, alcohol, lack of sleep, and (as if you needed ANOTHER thing to blame on the ‘rents) genetics.

Trust us, if you simply refuse to hydrate, sleep, and skip that second glass of wine, you can try some of the tricks below. But remember- these are only going to hide the damage, not fix it. Just get some damn sleep!

In the meantime, here are a few of ur top recommendations to help get you through the day!

  • Apply Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream. This contains color correcting agents that help create the illusion of a brighter under eye. It also contains Vitamin C, which can brighten the area and fight against fine lines.

  • Make concealer your new best friend. Makeup can do wonders to fake a good night’s sleep, especially peach or salmon colored concealer. These shades neutralize the blue and purple tones in dark circles, so use a product like Urban Decay Naked Color Corrector in Peach or Deep Peach.
  • Apply this only on the exact spots you see discoloration, and then apply your skin-tone colored concealer or foundation on top.
  • Freeze spoons (yes, this trick really does work). Put spoons or compresses in your fridge or freezer overnight, and place them on your eyes when you wake up to reduce puffiness and swelling.
