Plus, they can get you those gorgeous, Victoria Secret waves even if your own hair doesn't hold a curl. Told ya - your best friend.
And yes, that statistic is as fabricated as the dentist one, but if it works for Crest it can work for us. That’s because extensions allow the hair to be strategically placed to provide volume, define ridges, and avoid gaps in the style (especially for glam waves!). They also keep the hair from looking too thin at the ends, which is a huge plus if you’re doing any form of “half up / half down” style. They also help your hairstyle last all day, and can keep your veil in place.
Think of them the same way you think of false eyelashes or mascara. Just a little something to ~ enhance ~ that natural beauty.
Based on the final look you’re going for, your stylist can help determine if extensions are a good fit. If you have super, super thick hair or rock a bob, you probably don’t need them (and by probably, we mean definitely). But if you want those VS Angel waves, it’ll be a hard yes.
Ideally, you would already have extensions in when you go to your hair trial so you can really get a sense of what it will look like on the big day. If you don’t decide you want them until after the trial, just be sure to get them at least 2 weeks prior to the big day.
It is crucial that your extensions match your hair color perfectly, especially if you have hair with gradients. This might require your stylist and colorist to work together for optimal results- it might sound like overkill, but we promise it’s necessary.
We love working with companies like Bellami and Glam Seamless- if you can’t make it into their salons to color match in person, you can use their color matching online to order your hair and the best part - they give you a sample piece of extensions to ensure it matches your existing color. Just be sure to check the color in natural light, and don’t match it against your root. Since extensions lay in the middle of your hair, that’s the part you want it to match. Part your hair from ear to ear, clip it up, and pop the extension in before unclipping your natural hair. Trust us- you’ll be able to tell right away if it isn’t a match!
Opt for extensions a couple inches longer than your natural length. Don’t worry if it seems too long. Your wedding day stylist will trim them if needed!
We really, truly beg you to ask your stylist what type and brand of extensions they prefer,
and then buy those! We promise they know best.
(or plan to wear your hair down throughout your wedding weekend), ask your stylist if you'd be a good candidate for tape-in or hand tied/invisible bead extensions.
